Content Description From the Collection: The Science Building Records (Gilmer Hall) 1941-1971, collection contains correspondence, proposals, memoranda, architectural drawings, and alcohol permits relating to the building and maintenance of a science building on campus known as Gilmer Hall. Not included in the collection are documents regarding individual department purchases or information about the current science building, Pauley Science Center. Also included are some documents regarding Herbert Sipe and the chemistry department.

Scope and Contents This series features all extant issues of the newspaper at Hampden-Sydney College from 1965 until 1969. It is not a complete run of the paper; there is only one issue each from the years 1968 and 1969. Contents include news articles related to local news events and pertinent political races, articles that highlight educational and job opportunities for African-Americans in the community, editorials, and creative writing.

Abstract The second box contains permits, applications, correspondence, and proposals documenting (or relating to) the various science departments within Gilmer Hall. Not included in the collection are information pertaining to student records or specific class information.

Scope and Contents In the Spring of 2021, students in HIST285, "Building a Community Archive: The Voice of Prince Edward and the Moton Story" conducted oral history interviews with contributors to the paper. This series contains five interviews.

Scope and Contents Elizabeth Eggleston's "Jotting Books" are notebooks containing diary entries, personal information, and drafts of various poems, essays, and letters.

They are arranged chronologically, though certain volumes (2, 4-14, 41, 42 108-110, 113) are unaccounted for.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: The collection contains approximately 15 linear feet of material related to the history of Merrill's Marauders as compiled by the Merrill's Marauders Proud Descendants Association, including General Orders (copies), Special Orders (copies), news articles and clippings (originals and copies), documents from the National Archives (copies), records of attendance at Association meetings, original photographs, oral histories on compact disc, various A/V items including movies and television...
